Apple Introduces the Apple A19 and A19 Pro Chips, More Powerful and Efficient
Along with the launch of the iPhone 17 series, Apple also introduced two new chipsets, the A19 and A19 Pro, at an event titled "Awe Dropping" held in Cupertino, United States, on Wednesday (September 10, 2025).
The Apple A19 is a third-generation 3 nanometer (nm) chipset that powers the iPhone 17. This chip is equipped with a six-core processor (CPU).
The six CPU cores consist of two performance cores focused on performance and four efficiency cores focused on power savings.
The CPU is combined with a five-core graphics processor (GPU) that is said to be twice as fast as the A15 Bionic.
This GPU also supports various cutting-edge visual processing technologies. Some of these include hardware-based real-time lighting effects (ray tracing), efficient geometric object processing (mesh shading), and MetalFX upscaling to improve resolution and image quality.

In addition to being more powerful than the previous generation, the Apple A19 is also said to be more efficient. They claim the iPhone 17's battery can last up to 30 hours of video viewing with the 120 Hz refresh rate (ProMotion) feature active.
When fully discharged, the iPhone 17's battery can be charged to 50 percent in about 20 minutes.
Apple A19 Pro
Turning to the Apple A19 Pro, this chip comes with a six-core CPU, claimed to have the world's fastest performance.
These six CPU cores also consist of two performance cores and four efficiency cores, the same as the regular A19, but possibly faster.
The chip's GPU component has six cores, an increase from the A19's 5-core capacity. Each core in the GPU is also equipped with Neural Accelerators.

This component, also found in the "regular" A19, enables the GPU in the A19 Pro to handle a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) tasks, particularly those related to visual processing.
The Apple A19 Pro is claimed to deliver 40 percent consistent performance across all aspects (gaming, video editing, etc.) compared to the previous generation.
Both the Apple A19 and A19 Pro chips are accompanied by an updated 16-core AI chip, also known as the Apple Neural Engine (NPU), a display engine, and an updated image processing chip (ISP).
The iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip with a 5-core GPU (instead of 6-core) and is also accompanied by Apple's own C1X modem chip. This chip is claimed to deliver twice the network performance of the previous generation.
Apple has not disclosed other detailed specifications of the Apple A19 and A19 Pro.
